Vanessa Lynn Williams is a 46 year old American model, singer, songwriter and actress.
Born in Tarrytown, New
York, the daughter of music teachers Helen and Milton Augustine Williams Jr, Williams
grew up in the predominantly white middle-class suburban area of Millwood, New
York. Prophetically, her parents put "Here she is: Miss America" on
her birth announcement.
On September 17, 1983, She
made history and was crowned Miss America 1984 making her the first-ever Miss
America of African American descent. Unfortunately, a scandal caused her to
relinquish her title early. Although she resigned from fulfilling the duties of
a current Miss America, she was allowed to keep the bejeweled crown and
scholarship money and is officially recognized by the Miss America Organization
today as "Miss America 1984". Williams rebounded by launching a
career as an entertainer, earning Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominations. She
has won a Grammy, NUMEROUS NCAAP awards as well as Billboard Music, Academy, Soul
train music awards.

us that when you fall you just have to brush yourself off and move on. She has had a remarkable career since her
Playboy scandal and hasn’t looked back since. Here’s some snippets of the wide

Tonight is the night we’ve
ALL been waiting for. The Bad Girls Club
house has cleared out and now it’s time for all 8 girls to reunite: Portia,
Florina, Natalie, Kate, Annie, Amber, Kendra, and Lexi! Let’s remember that by
the final episode there were only FOUR girls left in the house. So there is
sooooo much unresolved drama that’s going to turn up in this reunion. Lets take
a trip down memory lane. The last time we saw:
PORTIA – she attacked
Natalie outside the house for talking about her daughter
FLO – she was being barraged
by a hail of water balloons by her roommates
NATALIE – she fought Kendra
AND Amber then proceeded to jump into a random person’s car to not be seen
again.
KATE – She destroyed her
roommates “prized” possessions, sucker punched Annie and got into it with
Amber.
ANNIE – she was getting in a
limo on her way back home while the rest of the girls ditched her to go on a
road trip.
Compounded with the trash talking
that’s been going on on the blog sites and twitter – this should be a veeerrry
interesting reunion. And it’s only the beginning…

Reunion PART 1, Love Games premieres (11/10c)!
This spin off features 3 former bad girls looking for love. Amber
and Sarah [Season 3] and Kendra [Season 4], are back with a group of 13 sexy bachelors. The
games begin as the ladies put the guys through a series of challenges, dates,
and eliminations that will help them with their search to find Mr. Right.
Comedian Bret Ernst ("Wild West Comedy Show")
hosts the eight one-hour episode series. Each week Amber, Kendra and
Sarah, have the group of bachelors competing for their attention in a series of
off-the-wall challenges and entertaining group dates. The girls must try to put
their bad aside in an attempt to work together to narrow the field and identify
the guy that's most ideal for them. The men that don't catch their eye and win
their heart are eliminated weekly.
The games get steamy as the men try
to woo the ladies with an array of alluring talents ranging from romantic
serenades to impressing the girls with their cooking prowess and physical
stamina during a lively beach challenge. In the end, only one Bad Girl and her
beau will be left standing.
The 2010 Census questionnaires are on their way to our homes and it is our responsibility to fill them out (correctly!) and mail them back. The U.S. Constitutions dictates that a census of the population is taken every 10 years to ensure that an up-to-date count of all citizens and non-citizens is done. The federal government uses Census results to help determine how to divide approximately $400 billion per year for the next ten years. Ideally, those neighborhoods that need the most help should be allotted the most money, and the only way to determine this is with a clear and accurate count of the nation’s population.
The U.S. Census Bureau has spent a great deal of money on advertisement to ensure that everyone is aware of the census, and that everyone participates. In fact, almost every time you turn on the radio or television, you hear the familiar slogan, “We can’t move forward until we mail it back”. Despite this effort, many people are still hesitant about participating, especially illegal immigrants and those with criminal backgrounds. Also, many of us spend too much time complaining about the state of our government, or at least know others that do. The Census is our chance to do something about it.
Our generation made such an impact in the 2008 election that named Barack Obama as the first African-American to lead our country. However, that huge milestone doesn’t mean anything if our communities remain in dismal states of inadequate schooling and hospitals, disheveled roads, and polluted parks and recreation centers. Since the results from this Census will not be updated for another ten years (when many of us will start or continue our families), it is important that we not only fill out the Census forms, but also spread the news to everyone in our neighborhoods. Future generations are depending on us to map out their well being. Complaining about a problem without taking action is pointless. Put your money where your mouth is. Fill it out…..

After a lot of Cablevision drama with Channel 7 (and owner, Disney), the 82nd Annual Academy Awards aired this past Sunday. As usual, the show was pretty BLAND , but let’s be real: the only reasons to watch The Oscars are to review the red-carpet fashion and see if the one or two people of color who are nominated actually win. Well, we had treats on both ends! The red carpet was filled with beautiful high-end designer gowns in a wide array of colors. And the Oscar newbie Mo’nique snagged her first Academy Award and accepted it with poise and grace.

Last week on Bad Girls club – we THOUGHT 2
new girls were moving in for the last 2 weeks but they just got a surprise
visit from Season 3’s Ambers!!! (I love Cookie – she’s too funny).
Instead of keeping the peace for the last couple of weeks, the girls decided to gang up on Kate – ultimately pushing her to the edge. Kate went out with a BANG punching Annie in the face and getting into to it with Season 4’s Amber. We are left hanging when all the girls seem to JUMP Kate. We will see what happened with that fight this week. And then the remaining four Bad Girls pack up and say their goodbyes, but Annie’s unappealing attitude inspires the other girls to ditch her for a final hoorah across the country. Watch the season finale of The Bad Girls Club this Tuesday at 10/9C, only on Oxygen.
