I was out and about the concrete jungle the other night in sale heaven! Moving right along...recently I read an article forwarded to me by a fellow blogginista and in it I learned that Turquoise is the "New Black" this year! From clothing to home goods, this tropical blue is trending everywhere according to NY Magazine. As quickly as I read it seemed like the color couldn't escape me all over the internet. I can't wait to mix and match...since this hue of blue is strong yet sweet there are many possibilities to mix and match.

Style Tip: For Winter style a basic outfit like, demin jeans and a blazer with a touch of turquoise jewlery. For Spring, make your outfit pop with a sexy staple shoe of the same color!

Fashion Fridays with RosieB: Holiday Shopping for All!

Children: The Gap, Old Navy, and Crew Cuts are the three of my favorite stores to shop for the little Princes and Princesses in our lives during the holiday Season. They have the most adorably chic pieces for tots a quality. How cute are these items?

Men: Macy's has one of the best Men's departments in all of retail. From your dad to a significant other to brother or your best friend, these items are great and go from the office to the outdoors. Holiday Dress Mode!

Holiday season is here in full effect. Dresses are the operative choice when it comes to holiday events like the company party, random amounts of all black affairs and or dress to impress holiday parties. Chiffon, pencil/figure fitting and short dresses are doing it for sure. Just because it's cold doesn't mean you can't show a little leg, that's what a long coat is for. So don't fret - here's a couple of dress styles with an array of price ranges. All Black Everything has been the move especially in the dress department. We can never go wrong with black dresses:

1. Black goes with everything.

2. Is automatically sophisticated.

3. Accessories are never a pairing issue 

The Midnight Dress from French Connection is super cute at $168 with a shiny finished material to play up some glam, love that it's strapless.

Asos is an amazing dress source ladies. Although it's a UK based website-sizes included, they do ship to the states and their prices are very reasonable. Their Laces Lash neck band dress is sexy and fun at $68. Pencil skirts and dresses always accentuate and are plain sexy.

 

The flirty sweetheart dress from Victoria Secret does justice with a cut-out in the back at $79.

 

Jewel tones always work well especially during the season. I'm in love with this feminine number, the Chiffon Bubble dress, $65 from Asos as well. 

Recessionista Pick: 

Easy on the pockets -short and cute, the Flutter Belted Knit dress from Forever 21 at a whopping $22.80 can't beat it!

The Holiday season is upon us! I know that it's the season to be giving, but there's nothing wrong with giving a little to you too. There's a lot going on this season, family functions, Holiday parties for work, huge Birthday extravaganzas at Webster Hall [wink] etc. So the question is, what are you going to wear?!? Well here's my advice, when it comes to dressing up this month remember this: "Tis the Season to be Shiny"! Sequins have made a major comeback in fashion and there's no time like the present to make a fashionable impression with a little bit of it! Here are my three favorite basic pieces you can mix and match with dresses, denim, tanks, skirts and more! Now don't go nuts and wear every single one of these things together and walk out the house thinking you're hot, because that is not hot. Not saying it can’t be done, but you need to be strategic about it. For now, all you need is one at a time lovelies, [lol] less is more.

Fashion Fridays w/ Rosie B: The Choo Choo Train is Here!

It's finally here ladies! A while ago I posted that H&M and Jimmy Choo were collaborating, but at the time the news was so fresh that there wasn't enough visual evidence to see if this dream would really come to life. Well, it did! This Saturday November 14th, the collection debuts in select H&M stores. I'd get there early, I here rumors of some recessionistas camping out and waiting for the store to open, YIKES!

The new fashion trend that I'm seeing and loving right now are all reminiscent of the military. Designers are showing a lot of outerwear this season in, army fatigue greens, navy blues with a lot of clasps, big collars and gold button details. Model Behavior.

The New York City Marathon is this Sunday November 1st, and I think it’s fabulous that Super Model Veronica Webb is running in the race! When I heard about this, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to highlight her awesomeness. Yes, I made that word up. The marathon organized by the NYRR (New York Road Runners) goes throughout all of New York’s five Boroughs. OUCH! I admire marathon runners; you have to be extremely diligent to run long distances, my shins would give out on me in after twenty minutes. That’s why I’m a sprinter, I like it quick and easy, no pun intended. The married mother of two was the first ever African American model to sign a huge contract with Revlon Cosmetics and also one of the first to grace the covers of high fashion magazines such as Vogue and Marie Claire during her rise. Veronica was discovered by a makeup artist, while attending design school, the industry fell in love with her face and she fell in love with the catwalk, the rest was history. Although she’s iconic in her fashion ways, she is also a very talented writer and journalist. She’s contributed to a variety of magazines such as Essence is the Editor-at-large for Interview magazine and Tim Gunn’s co-host for his Bravo show, "A Guide to Style."

Veronica is also on the board of a hand full of good cause organizations. As a young woman on the come up, I think it is necessary to recognize all of those who paved the way for us to be great! I wish her continued success in all her future endeavors, especially that grueling marathon on Sunday!
